Il “CASO”, nella vita, ci porta a fare scelte che possono avere importanti conseguenze!
Ghigi ha 17 anni, è a Parigi con un amico. Invece di fare una gita in compagnia, sceglie di visitare tutti i musei che può. Questo è forse il primo contatto con l’ARTE, la prima vera scelta compiuta da un ragazzo solo, lontano da casa, che gli cambierà la vita. A 17 anni è pronto a provare quella sensazione che Calvino, nelle sue “Lezioni Americane”, chiamerà “leggerezza pensosa”, in opposizione alla frivolezza pesante del vivere moderno. In seguito Marco Ghigi si appassionerà sempre più all’arte, grazie anche alla collaborazione di collezionisti e galleristi fidati, lungimiranti, dai quali, a partire dall’anno 2000, acquisterà le grandi opere che costituiscono, ad oggi, la “Collezione Ghigi” in mostra al Museo Licini di Ascoli Piceno. A cura di Alessandro Zechini – Arte Contemporanea Picena – questo viaggio nell’arte si sviluppa nell’ambito del Progetto “Grandi Collezioni”.
Un viaggio di percezioni e sensazioni allestito nelle tre sale, completamente rinnovate, situate al primo piano del Museo Licini.
La Collezione offre una selezione di artisti internazionali, di diverse generazioni (nati tra il 1903 e il 1990), accomunati da valori, esperienze vissute, idee politiche, emozioni. Un dialogo intergenerazionale, volto a creare nello spettatore “UN’ONDA TRAVOLGENTE!”, come spiega Ghigi, un “coinvolgimento totale” che trascini con sè, tutti gli organi di senso.
In ognuna delle tre sale, le opere ruotano intorno ad un tema specifico: la luce video ed il doppio nella prima sala, il neon e la profondità nella seconda sala, la luce ambientale ed il colore nella terza sala.
La luce è presente anche al piano superiore con una mostra dedicata interamente alla fotografia come mezzo espressivo.
La Collezione Ghigi presenta nomi d’importanza internazionale, artisti che provengono da 10 nazioni: Italia, Stati Uniti, Germania, Regno Unito, Svizzera, Portogallo, Messico, Georgia, Israele, Uruguay che hanno esposto le loro opere al MOMA, alla Tate ed in tanti altri prestigiosi musei del mondo. In esposizione anche due artisti che hanno vinto il Leone d’oro alle ultime edizioni della Biennale di Venezia (2017 e 2019).

The “CASE” sometimes drives us to make choices that may have important consequences!
Ghigi is seventeen, he is in Paris with a friend. He decides to visit all the museums he can rather than going about from place to place. Perhaps this is his first contact with ART, his first choice on his own, far from home, but it will change his life. He is only seventeen, but he is ready to have the sensation that Calvino defined, in his “American Lectures”, “thoughtful lightness” in contrast with the heavy frivolousness of the modern living.
From that moment ahead, Marco Ghigi will become more and more passionate about art. Since 2000, thanks to the collaboration with collectors and trustworthy, forward-looking art gallerists he has bought great works of art that today constitute “Ghigi Collection” in exposition at Licini Museum in Ascoli Piceno.
Curated by Alessandro Zechini – Arte Contemporanea Picena – this journey into art develops within the “ Great Collections” Project. A journey of perceptions and sensations set up in the three completely modernized rooms situated on the first floor of Licini Museum.
The Collection hosts a selection of international artists of different generations (born between 1903 and 1990) united by the same values, lived experiences, political ideas and emotions. An intergenerational dialogue aimed at creating “AN OVERWHELMING WAVE” in the viewer, as Ghigi clarifies, a “total action” that involves all senses.
In each room, the works of art revolve around a specific theme: video light and double in the first room; neon and depth in the second one; ambient light and color in the third one. On the second floor, we find the light theme as well in an exhibition completely dedicated to photography as a means of expression.
Ghigi Collection presents international important artists who come from ten countries: Italy, United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Portugal, Mexico, Georgia, Israel, Uruguay, they have shown their works in several prestigious museums all over the world such as the MOMA and the Tate. In addition, on display we have the works of two artists who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennal in 2017 and 2019.
